A large number of McGehee's, including our James and Jane, lived in Lincoln County, Tennessee, at various times throughout the 1800s.  This page is a resource that will help locate information about the various McGehee families in that area.

The McGehee families found on this webpage are related to the James and Jane McGehee family.    We know they are related based on DNA, geographic proximity, and intermarriage with the same collateral families.   However, the exact connection has not yet been proven ( as of 5/1/2020)

Thomas Gilmer McGehee was one of the very first McGehees in Texas.  While he does come from the same original McGehee line that our McGehee family does, he is not closely related as the two families have been apart since the 1700s.   The link is a history article about Thomas.
